Easy Fool-Proof Chili for the Non-Gourmet

Blog, Create & Celebrate

Halloween is FINALLY upon us and I know you are probably wondering why I am doing a recipe post (that’s a little off my beaten path).  Well, I have joined up with 17 of my blogger friends to bring you our favorite chili recipes in the Blogger’s Best Chili Cook-n-Share!!  Just in time for you to make for Halloween night!  HOW FUN!!!

I KNOW that out of all of these recipes you will be able to find one to love!!  I am no gourmet (if you can’t tell by the title) so I am sharing my easy fool-proof chili for the non-gourmet…guaranteed to have this warm yummy goodness from stove to bowl in just 20 minutes!!

My hubby is the Assistant Fire Chief for our volunteer fire department so on Halloween we need to be able to eat quick and head out the fire house to hand out candy.  In our neck of the woods Halloween has turned out to be really, really cold, so chili is a great way to warm up!

Easy Fool-Proof Chili

Here’s what  you will need

Easy Fool-Proof Chili

1 28 oz can Rotel mild diced tomatoes with green chilies

1 28 oz can Brooks chili beans

1 lb. hamburger

1 lb. ground regular sausage

2 packets McCormick chili seasoning

1 cup water

We love meaty chili so that is why I use two different kinds of meat, plus the sausage gives it a great flavor! You could substitute ground turkey for the hamburger (I do this a lot) for a healthier version.

Now remember we are talking EASY chili, and for me that means quick!  I cook my hamburger and sausage in the microwave.  Seven minutes for each, then chop it into fine crumbles (sometimes I use my potato masher)

Next add all of the ingredients into your pot (don’t drain the tomatoes or beans), bring to a boil and then simmer on medium heat for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally to keep it from sticking.

Easy Fool-Proof ChiliThe last thing to do is to make some sandwiches to go along with the chili.  I love grilled cheese with mine and my hubby is a die hard peanut butter sandwich lover.  Which one is your go to sandwich with chili?  Or do you like something else?  I would love to hear about it in the comments below!

Looks yummy, I love recipes like this. I need to stock up on canned goods for the Christmas rush!
My mom used to make toast triangles for our chili with Kraft Parmesan cheese on top. Country fancy, lol

The faster and easier I can get a dinner on the table the better is my motto. This recipe looks really good. I need to see if I can find some of these ingredients in Canada. If not I am pinning this recipe and will make a grocery list for our next trip south to Montana.

This looks so tasty and easy to prepare. I like quick meals and having toasted cheese with it is divine. But I have to say that the peanut butter sandwich and chili? I would never have thought of that combination. But then again, my mom used to eat peanut butter, mayo, and beans so I guess that’s sort of close LOL I’ll be making this for sure for our Chili Cookoff 🙂
